Removing Pollutants During House Cleaning
February 23, 2009 8:10 pm HomeAlgae appear as a green substance that usually first starts to show on the north facing side of houses and buildings. The north side has the prevailing amount of moisture and shade which is the conditions most suited for the algae to survive. Professional house cleaning can remove these pollutants to restore your home’s appearance.
Mildew appears as small flat black and green dots. Mildew will normally first start to show on your house in the shaded areas, for instance underneath the overhang and on the bottom sides of the gutters. This is not to be confused with artillery fungus which looks similar in appearance. Artillery fungus is more spread out and is always present over mulch where is originates. This type of fungi sticks up enough that you can pick it off your house siding with your fingernail, unlike mildew.
Mildew and algae need to be killed and removed with a bleach mix during house cleaning. The artillery fungus is extremely difficult to remove and in some instances, excessive pressure and hot water during house cleaning have been ineffective in removing this stubborn fungus.
